Call us to schedule your free pregnancy confirmation and options consultation, or use the form below to send us a message if you would like someone to contact you during office hours. For your health and safety, an intrauterine pregnancy should be verified via ultrasound prior to an abortion.
Before an Abortion
Your Rights. Your Consent. Your Choice.
Is there anyone not eligible for the abortion pill?
How late can you take it? How early?
Is an ultrasound needed if I had a positive home test?
If I have an IUD, do I need to get it removed?
If I only took the first pill, do I have to take the second?
Is it safe or force or cause a miscarriage at home?
Should I get tested for an STD or STI first?
Take charge of your health. Start with a free consultation, pregnancy, or STD testing today.

What to Expect
At your initial appointment, First Step Women's Center can provide lab-grade pregnancy testing and answer your questions about abortion, what to expect, and side effects. You can also discuss your health history and any additional steps that may be needed prior to an abortion. Please note that we believe women deserve to make reproductive health decisions in a place that does not profit from their choice, and we do not provide abortion services. No pressure. No cost. Just care.
If you need an ultrasound to verify the location of the pregnancy (if the pregnancy is ectopic, an abortion could be fatal), how far along you are (which can determine the type and price of an abortion), and if the pregnancy is viable (miscarriage is common in the first trimester), we can provide one at no cost. We also offer additional services, support, aid, and free resources.

Because we believe women and men have a right to get information from a resource that will not profit from their pregnancy decisions, all our services are provided at no cost to our patients. We do not provide or refer for termination services but can provide the information you need to make an informed choice. Planned or not, we can help. Get the answers you need on pregnancy, abortion, parenthood, and more. Please note that we can only provide telehealth services to individuals located in Illinois and can provide a state ID. If you do not have a license or identification that shows you are an Illinois resident, we can still provide in-person care at no cost to you.
