For your health and safety, an intrauterine pregnancy should be verified with an ultrasound scan prior to an abortion procedure or taking abortion pills. While we do not provide or refer for abortions, we can provide a free pregnancy confirmation ultrasound.

What to Expect
At your initial appointment, First Step Women's Center can provide lab-grade pregnancy testing and answer your questions about abortion, what to expect, and side effects. You can also discuss your health history and any additional steps that may be needed prior to an abortion. Please note that we believe women deserve to make reproductive health decisions in a place that does not profit from their choice, and we do not provide abortion services. No pressure. No cost. Just care.
If you need an ultrasound to verify the location of the pregnancy (if the pregnancy is ectopic, an abortion could be fatal), how far along you are (which can determine the type and price of an abortion), and if the pregnancy is viable (miscarriage is common in the first trimester), we can provide one at no cost. We also provide additional services, support, and community referrals to help you access free resources.

We do not provide or refer for termination services but can provide the information you need to make an informed choice. Planned or not, we can help. If you do not have a license or identification that shows you are an Illinois resident, we can still provide in-person care at no cost to you.
